The Medicine of the Song Bird ~

c_o_pThe message the Songbirds bring us is an affirmation of life, and the fact that, against pretty impressive odds, it’s worth making a try at doing one’s very best to “make it work” as an individual. Now, this will mean different things for different people. For some this affirmation will be about life itself, and finding meaning in the fact that we exist at all. This is part of the message of the Cardinal.robin

For others this will be about healing from early childhood traumas, so there may be more than one bird as a totem that will work with that person, depending on their age when the trauma occurred. For instance, if the trauma was the abuse of a parent who could not handle the stresses of child-rearing, The birds may range from red through to green, goldfinchinvolving  all of the early years of development from self, through community through how we relate to others, and whether we can even learn to love.  So that, perhaps a robin, with that beautiful orange breast heralding the spring, or a Goldfinch, the little yellow canary of the midwest, as well as the Cardinal may be part of the early healing that must take place. It is about at the age of four when the heart chakra develops, reference Anatomy of the Spirit by Caroline Myss, and the bird of choice to use would be the hummingbird, whose medicine is love and hummingbird_3joy. The bluebird would do well for healing of the throat chakra, and look, we have another bird with an orange breast which would help with the healing of the self image. This is all about healing, and ibluebirdt is your choice as to whether you are easier meditating on butterflies or birds, or any other creature whose appearance and ways could lift your spirits and help you with the bumps and bruises of life.

There are so many ways to meditate and contemplate the songbirds, you can become a backyard birder, feeding them, providing safe housing for them, and learning the ways simply by observation. Along with this, borrow some bird identification books from the local library, or get an inexpensive one soindigo-bunting you can keep it by the appropriate window. The Peterson feild Guide is inexpensive at Amazon.com And a couple of the pictures here are linked to Whatbird.com, that is a marvelous online source for identifying birds until you can afford your own.

If you are not afraid to pick up a pencil and draw, even looking at a photo to draw the bird, as drawing itself is not unlike meditation, there comes a point prettymartinwhen one is, as in the vernacular, “in the zone”. If you are not an artist, then trace the bird, even artists use this method to get specifics right, and color it using a set of color pencils. If you excell at imaginary friends, talk to the bird in your imaginary “garden”, see if it answers you, though if it tells you negative things, run, don’t walk to the gate that leads out of that garden. Find an aviary near you and just go observe the birds, listen to them. Connect with them. You will find that if you adopt this as a hobby it will be healing even when you are not aiming toward healing, but just learning about the birds.

We Are Seen ~

chakrasThis is essentially how a perfectly balanced human being would look in the world of Spirit. Since the perfectly balanced human is a myth or at least rare as hen’s teeth, with only a few humans ever reaching such a balance, perhaps Buddha, or Y’shua, but, even there we cannot be certain.  We can be fairly certain they would have come much closer than any of us.

The aura of a human is actually rather egg shaped, so a humanspiritualchakraegg that was very spiritually minded might look like this, while a person whose goal was to live the Lavidaloca might look a bit different, like thislavidalocachakraegg. None of us is so stable that the “egg” remains one color or the other all the time, and if we are a person that flows back and forth between the two lifestyles, our aura would flow between the two extremes. Most of us are somewhere in between, neither so spiritually minded as to have little left of the “life force red”, nor so carnal as to have none of the “spiritual” vibrations of the violet rays. The colors actually flow within the “egg”, so that, rather than a “rainbow” look, we are more like a many colored bubble with a predominant color showing the main focus of our lives.

The point of all of this, is that Spirit does not see us, or the adornments we put on our bodies. The molecules of solid objects actually flow so slowly they are only peripherally visible to Spirit, if at all. That does not mean Spirit does not know they are there. There are colors in our aura that we humansimagopal2blacksu2 cannot see that tell Spirit where our mind is focused, what we are choosing to show other humans in order to manipulate our surroundings, and our intent along the way. Ouch, yes, we are that transparent to Spirit. This is why Spirit can actually say in the holy scriptures of all different faiths that we are known completely.

I have often wondered why our true beauty is hidden behind a veil, for there are many who search for happiness in all the wrong places that would find if they could but see the way, that, though it is never easy, happiness can become pure joy when we serve with humility. We are abler than we think we are. And, with the help of the Highest, we can shine better than we know.

Magenta ~

This is the “other” printer’s primary that has not gotten a whole lot of “press” in the metaphysical community.  It always amazes me, the narrow band of wavelength where light is visible to us. We are creatures of limited vision, literally. Answers.com has a lovely work-up on magenta, at least the mechanics of how one gets the color and it’s development as a usable dye in the 1890’s.

From Wikipedia ~

Magenta is a purplish red color evoked by lights with less power in yellowish-green wavelengths than in blue and red wavelengths (complements of magenta have wavelength 500–530 nm).[1] In light experiments, magenta can be produced by removing the lime-green wavelengths from white light. It is an extra-spectral color, meaning it cannot be generated by a single wavelength of light, being a mixture of red and blue wavelengths. The name magenta comes from the dye magenta, commonly called fuchsine, discovered shortly after the 1859 Battle of Magenta near Magenta, Italy.

In the Munsell color system, magenta is called red-purple. In the CMYK color model used in printing, it is one of the primary colors of ink. In the RGB color model, the secondary color created by mixing the red and blue primaries is called magenta or fuchsia, though this color differs in hue from printer’s magenta.

My own thoughts about this color would have been that it was appropriate to assign it to the feet, as our path is governed by the way our mind guides our life force. A fancy way of saying that our feet go where our mind takes them. But, magenta is high energy and at the very top of the visible light scale, so that will not work. And though I want to bring the light around in a color wheel, which I work with in my drawing and painting, I cannot find an electromagnetic color wheel. I did, however, find a quantum theory explanation of the colors cyan and magenta, which, if you can understand the scientific explanation, show why all the colors together come up with white light shining forth from a light bulb. You’d almost have to call it a “Tale of Two Quarks”, (or more).

Have I gotten you completely lost yet? I’m kind of wandering around in a daze, so that wouldn’t be difficult. I love working with light and shadow, as an artist, that’s my bread and butter, but I am trying to pull things that are scientific and artistic into a spiritual explanation, maybe it’s working, maybe not. Seeing color seems not to be so simple a child could do it.

Magenta is often used in our society to express love along with red and pink, very Valentine’s Day. Since it takes two wavelengths to make magenta, perhaps it is not so silly to think of it in terms of the feet, where there are two smaller chakras, and which are “fired up”, as it were, by whatever is going on in our heads and our hearts.
